Ever wondered how the rampant violence continues to takes place in a democratic country like India, with both the state and central machinery showing ignorance to do the needful.

If you are looking for answers, it is the people in large who directly and indirectly are responsible for such elements to exist and thrive without any fear. With that add the political clout and we have a powerful group which apparently has more power than the government to carry out their narrow minded ideologies in a bid to garner support of the ignorant minds almost making them invincible.

The Goonda Raj (Gang rule)exists because there has been a complete failure of democracy. What is the use of calling a state democratic if it only looks after its own party’s vested interests and only acts when they are under pressure from the citizens.

The supporters of such individuals are people who become attached to the falsified ideologies and those who approached them to resolve their problems. A good example of this would be the Jet Airways employees who went to Raj Thackrey to save their jobs. This gives a good glimpse that being educated does not prevent someone to support such anti-social elements.

Look at the Mangalore pub attack and how all the accused were let off on bail. The message it sends out to the general public is frightening. No surprise that there was little action from the state government.

The Shri Ram Sena blog shows clearly which party they support. Interestingly enough, they even have an article on Raj Thackrey certainly making one raise their eye brows. What might even surprise you further is their claim of President Obama writing to the President of the organization.

Groups which propagate their views based on religions are only spreading hatred. People believe them because they think they are messengers of god and protectionist of our culture. What they fail to see is that every society forms its own culture and that only the good points needs to be absorbed in our own.

Unless people come together and fight against such individuals & groups nothing will stop them to carry out their activities in the future. The goonda raj will go on as long as we choose to remain mute spectators.
